Position Description Summary:
The Department of Health Policy and Management in the Milken Institute School of Public Health at the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. (
GWSPH
) is seeking applicants for a tenured or tenure track faculty position at the rank of assistant, associate or full professor in the area of aging, Medicare, post-acute care, long-term care, gerontology or a related field. This is a 12-month appointment. Rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Members of the Department are leaders in their fields, have applied real world experience in public health, health policy and law, and health administration practice, appreciate people taking initiative, and are supportive and collegial.
GWSPH
is a leader in public health science and has a growing portfolio of public health teaching, research and practice. As the only school of public health in the nation's capital, faculty and students have an opportunity to work closely with government agencies, numerous foundations and non-governmental organizations, and think tanks in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Department faculty possess health administration and/or health policy experience. The Department offers a number of degrees, including an
MPH
in health policy,
MHA
, executive and online graduate programs, and a PhD in health policy. Department faculty are engaged in a wide variety of research projects focusing on equity, social determinants of health, post-acute systems, health system leadership, health system reform, health informatics, health law, health care financing and pricing, health system innovation, healthcare quality, healthcare access and disparities, health ethics, health justice, and health workforce.
The Department welcomes a broad research agenda that may encompass multi-disciplinary research, collaboration with health sector practitioners, and specialized health research. Additionally, collaboration with the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.'s Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration, Law School, School of Business, School of Medicine & Health Sciences, and School of Nursing is encouraged.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach in the Department's various academic programs, including the
MPH
in health policy and the Master in Healthcare Administration (
MHA
); mentor and advise master and doctoral degree students; engage in a vibrant research agenda; pursue external funding; and serve on committees or other initiatives to advance the missions of the Department, School and University.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must have:
A terminal degree including a PhD, JD, MD, PharmD, or equivalent degree in a related field, such as a DrPH,
DHA
DNP
, by the time of start date of the position.
Interest and/or experience teaching courses in health policy and management.
Experience/demonstrated commitment to teaching and mentoring underrepresented students.
Demonstrated scholarly work in the field (i.e. peer-reviewed publication, dissertation, or high-quality policy report), commensurate with rank.
Research interests about/commitment to engaging in service with underrepresented populations and communities within the disciplines of health policy and management.
