The Graduate School Office provides the main professional services and academic support for the university’s growing postgraduate research (PGR) student population, and everyone involved in the research journey, including academic supervisors, examiners, and colleagues across the UHI network.
The team provides an integrated service, representing the interests and supporting the university’s PGR community by ensuring governance and procedures are relevant, compliant and in line with good practice across the UK sector.
The team also hold responsibility for the management of committees that support the PGR administrative functions. These are the Research Degree committee, which oversees the registration, support, progression and examination of research students and recommends the final degree award to Academic Council; and the Graduate School committee, which ensures the satisfactory progression of PGRs through the review of the student’s progress reports, identifies trends, general needs and training requirements and reports these to Research Degree committee.

Pay and Benefits
This post is part-time and will involve working 26 hours per week on a working pattern as agreed with your line manager. 
This role is linked to grade 5 on the UHI pay scale. The starting salary for this position will normally be in the range £24,943 to £26,465 per annum, pro rata. For exceptional candidates a higher salary up to £30,681 may be available.
This post is subject to a Disclosure Scotland Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme check, so please let us know if you are currently a PVG scheme member.
The workplace pension scheme provided to workers at grade five and below is the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS). This is a qualifying pension scheme, which means it meets or exceeds the government’s standards. Full information about the scheme can be found on the Highland Council’s Pension Fund website  ****Full-time posts carry a total of 39 days leave per annum (pro rata for part-time posts). It is practice that, with the exception of a Christmas and New Year closure, leave may be taken at any time of year, subject to the requirements of the post and department and with the permission of your line manager.
