Burlington High School is seeking a passionate and energetic teacher to support a STEM -focused Guided Academic Study program and join a school committed to high levels of achievement for all students. The ideal candidate should have teaching experience in either Science and/or Mathematics in order to best support the improvement of students’ learning through the Guided Academic Study program. It is essential that the teacher candidate has the ability to collaborate with other educators and team members to best meet the needs of a diverse group of learners. Experience working with English Language Learners and students with educational plans is preferred. Other responsibilities include developing habits of learning needed to succeed in academic classes, developing organizational and time-management strategies, fostering self-efficacy, setting short and long-term goals for and beyond high school, and providing a supportive workspace for collaborating, discussing and completing well-wrought academic work. Candidates should have strong interpersonal skills in order to develop positive, meaningful, and supportive relationships with students.

Responsibilities:
Experience teaching at the high school level
Understanding of cultural competency (as explained through Essay 1 in application)
Knowledge of curriculum planning using “backwards design”, differentiated instruction, and formative assessment.
Ability to work with a vulnerable population of learners.
Knowledge of best practices regarding frameworks of student behavioral support.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Math and/or science
Licensed or eligible for Vermont Educators License preferably in Science and/or Mathematics.
Endorsement in high school Social Studies or eligible for Vermont Provisional License.
Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred Attributes
Experience in professional/teaching learning community groups including working collaboratively with colleagues to plan units of study, review student data and progress, and adjust instruction.
A commitment to student-centered learning approaches including personalizing instruction and supporting students meeting core proficiencies.
Training and/or experience with English Language Learners.
Experience in implementing inclusive practices for students with disabilities.
Ongoing educational coursework in Science and/or Mathematics.
