) is currently seeking and Assistant Director in the department of Medical School Admissions. The Assistant Director of Medical School Admissions is a critical professional role within the high-volume, highly competitive environment of medical school admissions. Nearly 13,000 completed applications are reviewed each admissions cycle for entering classes of fewer than 200. All applicant materials are evaluated holistically (grades, scores, letters of recommendation, etc.) and the Assistant Director is a critical member of the evaluating team. This role handles applicant inquiries, extensive recruitment planning and execution, as well as high-level, detail-oriented interfacing with other units on campus such as the International Students Office in regards to visa documentation. This role demands an exemplary level of discretion as well as public speaking and writing abilities. This role assists the Director in various high-stakes areas such as involvement in the coordination and execution of medical student interview days, design and production of effective recruitment materials, maintaining a portfolio of special applicant programs, supervision of seasonal employees, and in completion of functions that are operational and budgetary in nature.

This position typically represents the university both on campus and off campus in order to build relationships and analyze data to manage a recruitment territory, evaluate admissions applications and make recommendations regarding admissions decisions. The core responsibilities of this role are typically to execute strategic recruitment initiatives, to analyze recruitment data, to holistically evaluate applications and make recommendation for admissions decisions, to determine eligibility for special admissions programs, and to present recommendations to final review authority. This role may also plan, execute, and represent the university both on campus and off campus at events via information sessions, interviews, college visits, college fairs, open houses and department events, and may coordinate special programs/projects in support of admissions efforts.

Duties Include:
* Reviews all applications for Medical School admission, ensuring that University and Medical School guidelines are followed and standards maintained, to include; evaluating individual letters of recommendation, academic records, achievements, extracurricular activities and experience of applicants to determine eligibility for admission, verifying academic transcripts for authenticity, completeness and accuracy, preparing all necessary documentation for referral to admissions committee, assisting Director with selection of applicants for admissions interviews. Key team member organizing and executing medical student interviews (2000 discrete meetings).
* Assists the Director in developing recruitment activities that promote the Medical School and maximize the quality of applicants, admits, and matriculants with the Medical School to include: organizing and hosting various recruitment events and information sessions (e.g., open houses for undergraduate pre-medical students and high school groups); arranging for various committee members, medical students, financial aid and admissions personnel to discuss various aspects of the medical school; representing the Medical School at various off-campus recruiting functions such as graduate school fairs; coordinating the design, production, and distribution of accurate and effective recruitment materials to prospective applicants and other recruitment contacts (e.g., undergraduate counselors and career center personnel at colleges and universities).
* Provides applicant advising to include; responding to applicant questions and concerns regarding admissions policies, procedures, course requirements and other related information, following-up on incomplete or inaccurate applications and researching and resolving unusual or complex problems concerning admissions, responding to applicants with confidential concerns such as drug abuse or personal issues, advising applicants regarding the status of their applications to include discussions regarding acceptance/denial of admittance.
* Assists Director with administration and management of the Admissions Office to include; assistance in supervising seasonal employees, representing the Director, in his/her absence, at meetings and in supervising other staff members; completing administrative reports/forms in areas such as payroll, employee leave, operational and budget activities.
* Recommends policy and procedural changes to increase the quality of the applicant/admissions process and/or improve the daily functioning of the office.
* Compiles, organizes, and reports admissions statistics to Medical School Administration.
* Maintains professional expertise through attendance at professional meetings, review of current literature, and contact with other admissions professionals.
* Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
