Georgetown College, the school of arts and sciences within **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***., seeks a new Director for its undergraduate program in Journalism. The director will hold a faculty position at Georgetown with the possibility of that position being full- or part-time.
Taking advantage of the university's location in Washington, D.C., the Journalism Program and its faculty of distinguished journalists teaches students both the theory and practice of journalism across a wide variety of issues, ranging from politics to the arts to sports. The program currently offers a minor to interested students.
In addition to teaching in the program, the next director will be responsible for:
Maintaining and advancing the curriculum
Recruiting and retaining qualified faculty
Mentoring new faculty
Advising students and assisting in internship placement
Interfacing with other academic units at the university
Planning and managing the program's budget
Engaging in development, fundraising and alumni relations
Participating in public-facing activities: organizing public events, public commentary on journalism issues, representing the program
Qualifications
Successful candidates will have a distinguished record of engagement with the field of journalism. Experience teaching journalism in a university setting is desirable, but not required. An advanced degree related to journalism is also desirable, but not required.
