The role
The **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. is seeking to appoint an outstanding academic researcher and leader of full professorial rank as the Head of the School of Arts
. As part of the Faculty of Arts
, the School undertakes world-class research and is committed to the highest standards of teaching and student experience.
As Head of School, you will occupy a key academic leadership position within the University. Reporting to the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, you will lead and manage the academic business of the School.
The appointment will be for four years, and is available from 1 January 2023. It will go hand in hand with an open-ended full-time professorial position.
What will you be doing?
Leading the School’s academic direction and identifying transformative and innovative opportunities, with a particular emphasis on Digital Arts and partnership development, both inside and outside the University.
Promoting research excellence and fostering a positive, high-performance research culture, in line with the University’s world-leading research reputation, with a particular focus on external grant capture.
Ensuring continued excellence in teaching, student experience and educational innovation, with special emphasis on increasing international student recruitment.
Developing, in line with University and Faculty strategy, the vision and strategy for the School to further enhance the School’s reputation, including to place the School at the forefront of developments in Digital Arts.
Maintaining a positive and collegiate working culture across all staff groups, which is underpinned by equality, diversity and inclusion.
Fostering and developing collaborations with a range of internal and external partners, pertaining both to public and civic engagement and research collaboration.

An outstanding leadership track record, with demonstrated ability to lead and motivate others through a collaborative, innovative and forward-thinking approach.
An inspirational vision for the School alongside the enthusiasm to develop and implement the School’s strategy, in line with University and Faculty strategy.
A demonstrable commitment to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion.
Academic standing commensurate with full senior professorial status in an area related to one or more of the disciplines within the School. Your work and expertise will preferably have a digital focus, possibly including a media dimension.
Demonstrable capability to lead the Digital Arts transformation in the School.
A deep commitment to, and a record of success in, promoting a high-quality education and student experience, and enabling colleagues to be excellent researchers and teachers; demonstrating an international dimension will be an advantage.
