Job Description
Title: Middle School Math Long Term Substitute Teacher - Grade 6
Location: Curtis Middle School
Reports to: Principal
Position Summary:
Ephraim Curtis Middle School is seeking a qualified Math Teacher to work as a LTS during the 2022-2023 school year.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests;
Establish and communicate to students clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects;
Plan and implement effective instruction as described by the NCTM’s Mathematics Teaching Practices;
Design collaborative, engaging learning experiences for students;
Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of struggling learners and those needing additional challenges
Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible;
Administer standardized ability and achievement tests;
Maintain accurate, complete, and correct student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations;
Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health;
Provide students with descriptive, accurate, and timely feedback on assessments, including strengths, weaknesses, and next steps for progress toward the learning targets;
Enforce all administration policies and rules governing students;
Confer with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators in order to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems;
Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress, and to determine their priorities for their children and their resource needs;
Meet with other professionals to discuss individual students' needs and progress;
Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence;
Attend staff meetings, and serve on staff committees as required;
Complete other related duties as assigned.
2022-2023 school year
Salary: $125/day or $250/day (DESE license required) - depending on duration of assignment
Hiring is contingent upon a successful CORI and fingerprinting clearance. All finalists will be required to provide official transcripts.

Job Requirements
•Bachelor’s Degree Required; Master’s Degree preferred;
•Required Massachusetts teaching certification/licensure in Mathematics 5-8 through the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education;
•Massachusetts certification/licensure for middle school social studies preferred but not required;
•Highly Qualified Status under No Child Left Behind;
•Ability to provide a structured, orderly, safe, and respectful school environment;

•A willingness to engage with colleagues in constructive feedback to improve professional performance;
