The individual will be contributing to a team that is responsible for the major, recurring data collections, surveys, and data reports which address a variety of topics, such as applicants, students, graduates, residents, faculty, hospital operations, medical school finances, and organizational characteristics. The Senior Research and Data Analyst will be responsible for owning the day-to-day operations of various surveys, data collections, and reports and for ensuring that these AAMC data services are released timely and accurately. Candidates should be meticulous and have skills in data analysis, programming, and project management.
How will you make an impact?
Lead efforts with colleagues and constituents to develop, implement, maintain, and improve data operations and services that provide compelling and useful information for the academic medical community.
Lead a number of recurring data services, such as the LCME Part I-B Student Financial Aid Questionnaire, the Financial Aid Summary Report, the Missions Management Tool, the Curriculum Inventory Data Tool, Curriculum Inventory Reports, the Medical School Profile System, the LCME Data Tables, the Operations Management Survey, and the Operations and Management Tool.
Serve as a Data Steward for key AAMC data assets.
Update and maintain office manuals that document policies and procedures for data collections, data management, and data reporting.
Collect and report data in compliance with AAMC and applicable federal or IRB policies and procedures.
Help design, test, launch, improve, and manage surveys and reporting tools in Verint, ColdFusion, Java and other platforms.
Produce and maintain programming files for importing, data checking, and analyzing data in syntax such as SQL, PL/SQL, VBA, HTML, and JavaScript.
Develop and maintain data management and data reporting applications to meet internal and external information needs.
Develop and maintain quality control checks and project management schedules to ensure that surveys and reports are launched in a sound and timely manner.
Provide day-to-day support to survey participants, report recipients, and application users with log-in issues, content-related questions, reminders, extensions, or similar operational concerns.
Review articles, papers, presentations, and other materials for accuracy of analysis and interpretation.
Respond to ad hoc requests for special reports, presentations, report access, and other data services.
Contribute to the technical and nontechnical growth of colleagues. The development of technical skills (such as knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, or JavaScript) and nontechnical skills (such as knowledge of data steward policies) may be encouraged in a variety of formal and informal settings, drawing on internal as well as external resources governing the effective and appropriate use of data.
What will you bring to the role?
A master's degree and a minimum of 5 - 7 years of related work experience is required.
Proficient with SQL, PL/SQL, VBA, HTML, JavaScript or similar programming language.
Demonstrated ability to be detail oriented and organized.
Strong communication skills.
Experience and curiosity about investigating data discrepancies.

If a bachelor's degree is required, related work experience may be substituted in some positions. One year of college course work at an accredited institution is equivalent to one year of related work experience.
