Profile

My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) and My Sister's Keeper (MSK) are weekly affinity groups for students of The Global Majority to come together and discuss personal and social development, addressing issues of identity, school climate, equity, racism, leadership, and college and career readiness.
The program provides a safe space for students to develop critical thinking, problem-solving and connection that enables goal achievement and the personal, academic and social growth of students.
MSK/MBK staff serve as mentors/coaches facilitating weekly meetings to share life experiences of identity and social experiences that resonate with youth of color and keep them on a successful track both in and out of school time.
We are seeking candidates to support the work of the male self identified MBK Group and the the female self identified MSK Group.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Demonstrate and implement knowledge of best practices for youth of color programming.
Coordinate all aspects of program development including planning, curriculum development, facilitating events, program management, and assessment.
Monitor student academic progress reports, provide appropriate feedback, guidance and timely intervention for those academically at risk.
Strictly honor the privacy and security of student records and other sensitive information.
Cultivate collaborative relationships with partners, including schools, organizations, and other key stakeholders to engage them program activities
Assist in the coordination of collaborative school and community events in and outside of school times.
Ability to track and record student attendance, document progress towards outcomes and other information as required by funders
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:
Demonstrated commitment to and interest in advancing social and/or racial justice initiatives.
Demonstrated knowledge and familiarity of restorative practices.
Demonstrated strong organizational, coordination, and group leadership skills.
Personal or professional experience working with impacted communities with deep commitment to racial equity and to incorporating racial equity principles into legal work
Ability to hold and foster difficult and necessary conversations about race, class, sexual orientation and expression, religion, gender, disability, and other identity-based issues
Emotionally intelligent, tactful, diplomatic, and able to maintain confidentiality around sensitive issues
Ability to communicate persuasively and generate excitement around shaping a robust program
Community-oriented with a focus on relationship-building and deep partnership and thought leadership
Preferred Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have
personal or professional experience
working with youth support programs, as well as a worki
ng knowledge of and experience in coordinating support and mentoring/coaching initiatives for students of the global majority and a
deep commitment to racial equity.
This position requires a motivated self-starter with the ability to deliver a high level of interactive youth development support and ability to maintain collaborative relationships inside and outside of the school setting. Must have the ability to prioritize effectively, proactively solve problems, cultural competency understanding, interpersonal communication skills, excellent listening skills and possess a student-centered philosophy and demonstrate the ability to work well with students, faculty and staff at all levels within a diverse, multicultural, and collaborative environment.
