We are seeking to appoint a new Lecturer in Criminology to support core teaching on the BA Global Social Challenges programme, a new degree programme set for its first intake of students in September 2023.
The successful candidate will assist in designing and developing this transdisciplinary programme that will cross-cut the discipline areas of the School of Social Sciences. The BA Global Social Challenges will focus on the challenges that result in harm, including social inequality, conflict and violence, and global governance. The intention is to attract a wide range of international students. The department is also home to our successful BA Criminology programme. Both programmes emphasise data skills and employability.
The appointment is for 18 months in the first instance, although it may become permanent in due course.
Research interests of the successful candidate will complement areas of research excellence in the Department of Criminology, including all areas of financial crime, compliance and regulation; drugs (markets, consumption, policy); violence and its aftermath; prisons, punishment and policing; and inequalities connected to offending and victimisation. We particularly encourage applications from candidates whose substantive areas of expertise include transdisciplinary issues and global perspectives.
Applicants must have a relevant PhD and demonstrate experience in curriculum development, meet flexible curricular and teaching needs, and demonstrate capability to contribute organisationally to the wider School community.
The School is strongly committed to promoting equality and diversity, including the Athena SWAN charter for gender equality in higher education. The School holds a Bronze Award which recognises our good practice in relation to gender; including flexible working arrangements, family- friendly policies, and support to allow staff achieve a good work-life balance. All appointments will be made on merit.
