Title: World Language Teacher - .4 FTE
Reports to: Principal
Location:Curtis Middle School
Position Summary:
Ephraim Curtis Middle School is seeking a qualified part time Spanish Teacher to work with grades 6-8 in developing competencies, knowledge, and skills comprehending, speaking, reading and writing.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
· Teach skills and knowledge in the instruction of Spanish to middle school students through appropriate learning activities;
· Develop lesson plans including supplementary materials and participate in curriculum and other developmental programs;
· Provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student;
· Develop student understanding and appreciation of the culture of countries where Spanish/French is spoken;
· Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needs to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment;
· Communicate with parents and school counselors on students’ progress;
· Collaborate with other World Language colleagues to plan for, develop, and implement common assessments;
· Collaborate with other World Language colleagues to refine the Scope and Sequence for grades 6, 7, and 8 Spanish;
· Ensure consistent and fluid transition of curriculum and instruction from grade 5 and into grade 9;
· Foster student interest in and understanding of the Spanish language;
· Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or designee.
Classification: SEA Unit Position
Work Year: .4 FTE (183 day school year)
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience based on the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
Hiring is contingent upon a successful CORI and fingerprinting clearance. All finalists will be required to provide official transcripts.

Job Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in a related field; Master’s Degree preferred;
· A valid Massachusetts Spanish Teacher 5-8 License issued by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education;
· Fluency in Spanish;
· Ability to provide a structured, orderly, safe, and respectful school environment;
· Belief that every child can learn and the drive to help every child reach his or her potential;
· Philosophy of collaborating with educators to enhance best practices and inform instruction;
· Experience working with and desire to work with young adolescents in an educational setting. Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required
