Job Description:

Course Summary:
Stand Alone Level B Assessment Course (4 credits)
This course introduces candidates to a variety of psychometric assessments that are used to measure academic achievement and behavioural/social-emotional functioning that are relevant to BC Ministry of Education 1701 Special Education Category student designations.
This course explores the ethical considerations of psychometric assessment, and how to apply the fundamental statistical knowledge required to inform diagnostic decision-making and understand the results of assessments for educational programming and intervention. The Level B assessment is a stand-alone course that explores a variety of assessment tools, how to use these tools, and how to interpret information based on the assessment findings. The student will gain an understanding of key considerations in sharing information gathered from Level B psychometric assessments and effectively communicating assessment results. Successful completion of this course will qualify participants to perform Level B assessments in K-12 schools and it has been recognized by Pearson Canada.

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. PhD in related fields. Master's degree candidates may be considered based on level of experience.
Minimum of 5 years experience in the K-12 school system.
Prior teaching experience an asset.
Skills in addressing student academic-related issues and concerns in support of retention and student success.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to provide a learning experience that links application with formal learning and adult learning theory.
Ability to work in a team oriented system, deal effectively with professional staff and faculty, and culturally diverse students.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and learning management systems in support of quality teaching and learning.
