BSD is seeking a passionate and energetic Long-Term Substitute Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) to join a school committed to high levels of achievement of all students. This position requires working with a caseload of up to 20 students with language development needs from diverse backgrounds. Applicants must be dedicated to the belief and desire for the inclusion of all students, and eager to be a member of a high energy, fast-paced dedicated special education team as well as individual student teams in support of student success for all.
This position will fill an intermittent leave for the remainder of the 2021-2022 school year.
QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
The following are Required:
Licensed or eligible for Vermont Educators License.
Endorsement as an SLP or eligible for Vermont Provisional License.
Currently qualified or eligible for CCC.
Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
SLP experience
Experience with Intensive Needs children
Knowledge of research/evidenced based academic interventions
Current knowledge and experience with Speech and Language assessments
Understanding of Cultural Competency (as explained through Essay 1 on SchoolSpring)
Ability to diagnose and assess language development needs of 30-35 other students per year
Preferred Attributes:
Evidence of integrating technology into the learning environment
Experience with Pk-12 aged children
Training and/or experience with English Language Learners
Experience in inclusive settings
Experience with teaming with early childhood teachers and/or early childhood special educators
Experience with Supervision/Consultation
Experience in effectively work with and case-manage up to 20 students with a variety of speech and language needs in one-on-one and small group settings
Experience in communicating and maintaining positive relationships with parents and guardians of students with intensive needs
Experience in planning, leading, and managing large and potentially complex IEP meetings with students, parents, teachers, outside agencies, community mentors, and other support people
Demonstrated skills in effective consultation with teacher colleagues and other school and community supports to support student success in the classroom
Ability to train and supervise para-educators providing support services to students with language needs
Experience with general special education services and providing other academic and cognitive testing preferred
Demonstrated ability to complete required IEP and other required documents in a timely and efficient way
Must possess strong, positive initiative and motivation to contribute to our vibrant community
