A knowledge exchange fellow will be appointed to strengthen existing partnerships across the UKRI investments, develop new relationships that lead to collaborative knowledge exchange projects, facilitate knowledge exchange and network building across stakeholders and policy makers, and raise the profile of the programme and the findings of the funded research.
At present the SPF has funded four major five-year projects (led by the Universities of Reading, Cambridge, York and Sheffield) and the UK Food Systems Centre for Doctoral Training (led by the University of Greenwich) with a further tranche of 2-3 year projects to be announced in 2022. The role will be hosted at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***., within the world-leading Department of Food and Nutritional Sciences.
The person we are seeking for this role will be an ambassador for the programme, working in partnership with the funded consortia and the UKRI programme team to identify opportunities for knowledge exchange and to drive impact from the programme. A strong understanding of the national and international landscape of food systems research and policy is required to help consortia to anticipate and predict developments, including economic, political, environmental and social factors and how these might impact the programme, and conversely helping the programme to shape such developments. The KE Follow will ensure that knowledge arising from the four consortia and other projects funded under the UKRI Transforming the UK Food System SPF is translated into impact for academic, public sector, civil society and industry partners. The role holder should develop collaborative relationships with stakeholders and sectors relevant to the UK food system, including those responsible for policy shaping and setting.
The successful applicant will have:
Demonstrable understanding of knowledge exchange theory and practice
Experience of planning and delivering knowledge exchange activities in relation to an academic area
Excellent planning, organisational and communication skills
An ability to balance competing priorities and meet set deadlines
Good interpersonal skills with an ability to work co-operatively in a multidisciplinary setting at all levels across the universities and with external organisations
Capability of developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with people at all levels within diverse organisations
An ability to find creative solutions and deliver successful outcomes
Experience of providing leadership for impact development and providing advice to a range of stakeholders
Excellent skills of consultation, collaboration and influence in order to engage effectively with a range of stakeholders
