Job Description:
General Summary:
The School of Theology has several grants that need support and are combining funds to create a .75-1.0 fte position to support them. The job will be a mix of in-person and work from home with some variation week-to-week as to which grant might need additional or less work. The various grants are:
Pivot NW Research (55-75% of weekly hours):
Pivot NW Research (Pivotnw.org) is shifting out of primarily research and into more coaching, consulting, education, and publication. This position will supervise content creation and publication, coordinating with student employees, contractors, and other Pivot NW/PACE NW Staff to produce professional products in multiple formats. It will also interface with the public at events and working with churches in the community and help to coordinate aspects of the three initiatives (Fellows, Mentors, Integration Summits).
Faith Formation (20-30% of weekly hours):
The Faith Formation Project consists of two parts; (1) building a community of learning in the Pacific Northwest among families, ministry leaders, and the academy regarding the intersectional realities and current challenges that influence Christian faith formation, and (2) conducting interdisciplinary research in practical theology and social cognitive psychology to better understand the transmission of the Christian faith from parents and caregivers to their children. Both dimensions support the common goal of supporting faith formation within families through congregations, giving special attention to what reconciliation might look like within these families as they navigate the experience of marginalization, racism, a changing gender/sexual landscape, disability, and issues related to mental health - some of which has been exacerbated by the COVID pandemic.
Leitourgia (TBD weekly hour percentage but estimated 5-15%):
****is a fully-funded, 9-month-long, intergenerational, mentorship opportunity for churches seeking new ways to incorporate youth into the worship life of their congregations. The project connects youth and participating adults with other area churches while exploring the rich and diverse ways Christians worship the Triune God. Participants not only discover the depth of Christian worship practices, but will develop their own talents through hands-on training from seasoned leaders and professors.
