The **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. is seeking a High School Assistant Principal focused on overseeing and cultivating strong teams that service students within the school
including our School Counseling and Special Education Departments Burlington High School’s Assistant Principal of Student Supports serves as instructional, operational and inspirational leader of the school environment guided by the District’s mission, vision and strategic goals. They must possess the ability to enhance student performance by identifying strategies that close the achievement gap and increase opportunities in order to raise the bar for student achievement. Leaders in the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. promote a collaborative, positive and professional climate for students, staff and community to succeed.
JOB GOAL
: To use leadership, organizational, supervisory and management skills to provide effective and efficient daily operation of the school’s Counseling, Special Education and English Language (EL) Departments as well as any additional oversight as assigned by the Principal.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of three years of successful teaching, counseling and/or special education experience;
Vermont Teacher Licensure with a Principal endorsement.
Evidence of professional growth and academic credit that is above/beyond mandatory credits and courses needed to fulfill state certification requirements. A Master’s Degree in the area of educational administration is desired, but not required;
A demonstrated ability to work with students especially EL and special education, staff and the community;
A demonstrated ability to lead and supervise adults
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Provide instructional and operational leadership to maximize student achievement for all students with a focus on our School Counseling, Special Education and EL Department;
Supervises members of the School Counseling, Special Education and EL Departments;
Develops appropriate annual goals within the School Counseling, Special Education and EL Departments consistent with high school and district long-range goals;
Works with school counselors, case managers and faculty to support and enhance their programs and assist them with individual situations;
Supports and operates as the Local Educational Agency (LEA) for Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings as needed;
Oversees of special education and EL testing;
Develops in-service Professional Development aligned with school and district vision;
Oversees expenditures associated with the School Counseling, Special Education and EL department budgets;
Oversees and coordinates testing within the high school including AP, ACT/PSAT, EL and Special Education testing;
Oversees and coordinates with Principal, Lead Teachers, and School Counseling Staff to create the Master Schedule;
Works with the Principal to develop the curriculum and recommend curricular changes where appropriate;
Oversees the collection, maintenance, dissemination, and destruction of permanent student files;
Oversees the proper evaluation of student records to assure that all BHS graduation candidates meet graduation requirements and the creation of transcripts;
Maintains good relations with all BHS departments and participates in weekly Administrator Meetings with the BHS Principal and Administrative Leadership Team;
Meets weekly with School Counseling and attends PLC meetings with Special Education and EL Department;
Additional Assets
Experience effectively working with culturally and linguistically diverse groups.
Training and/or experience with group facilitation and process management.
