BHS Summer Transitions is a five-week program that provides supplemental education and work-related service experiences. The program is designed for students who are transitioning from eighth grade into BHS who have been identified by middle school counselors as potentially having difficulty in adjusting to high school. The program works with students who are significantly at-risk for dropping out of school and not prepared for the workforce. The program helps to prepare students for the expectations and demands of high school courses and job-related experiences.
The BHS Summer Transitions program is seeking experienced and energetic teachers to support students in gaining critical literacy and math skills through high-quality focused academic programming.
Please make sure you provide clear evidence of the following criteria in your application.
- Licensed or eligible for Vermont Educators License
- Ability to commit to work all 5 program weeks, June 28th - July 30th
- Knowledge of best practices regarding student management protocols
- Knowledge of middle and high school research-based best practices
- Evidence of strong connection with students and families
- Understanding of summer learning or previous experience working in a summer learning program.
Dates and Position Hours:
In-Service Date: June (TBD), 1-2 days
Program Dates: June 28th - July 30th. No program July 5th
Hours: 20 hours/week, daily schedule 8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., Monday - Friday
