General Description

The position assignment of the Juvenile Intervention Officer is responsible for professional and administrative work involving case management of juvenile offenders as well as at risk youths with the Juvenile Enforcement Center.

The Juvenile Intervention Officer ensures referred youths receive the most appropriate services to effectively and efficiently serve the youth within the community. This will be accomplished through the provision of necessary and appropriate services, as determined by the individualized needs of the youth, based upon a service needs assessment and other appropriate tools
Provides one or more core transition services, specifically vocational services and/or educational services, including mentoring and transportation services. Youth shall receive a combination of evidence-based services, and value-added services, to include employment readiness, academic remediation, life skills training, and experiential education. Will be trained in evidence-based delinquency interventions, LST (Life Skills Training) and SNAP (Stop Now and Plan). Both of these services will be delivered in a group setting to all applicable youths. All the groups will be provided in the evenings
Follow the scope of services identified in Contract #10473 and SNAP Contract between the Department of Juvenile Justice, the Florida Network, and the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.. Follow any and all amendments to the scope of services outlined in these contracts
Prepares and maintains administrative documentation as required. Prepares various specialized and statistical reports as required including assisting in daily, monthly, and annual data collection
Performs other duties as assigned or as may be necessary in the efficient and effective performance of the position functions
Develops and maintains relationships with judicial, law enforcement, schools, and social and community organizations
Minimum Qualifications

Applicant must have a Bachelor's Degree in Education, Guidance/Counseling, Social Work, or a closely related field or
four (4) years of related experience OR
Associates degree and 2 years of experience OR any equivalent combination of training and experience
Applicant must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license
Applicant must become NCIC/FCIC certified via an FBI background screening and FDLE qualification and examination within six (6) moths of employment
Applicant must be able to complete PAR training within six (6) months of employment

Regular and prompt attendance is mandatory in the performance of an employee's duties for this position, to include scheduled work hours, and required training activities, calls for mandatory overtime needs and calls for service during times of an emergency.
Successful applicants will be required to complete and submit an entire employment application, which will be provided to the applicant by the Human Resources Division. The applicant will then submit to a thorough background investigation, which includes, but not limited to, past employment/education verification, driver license review, credit history, prior drug use history, arrest/conviction record, and computerized voice stress analysis (CVSA) testing. A certified examiner administers the CVSA with questions addressing illegal drug use and general questions of honesty and criminal history. Any dishonesty or deception on the Pre-Screen Questionnaire or Employment Application will disqualify your application.
The background investigation process may take 3-6 months depending upon the complexity of the applicant's background. Applicants selected for employment will be provided a conditional offer and required to submit to a medical examination with drug screening.
Candidates must also comply with the Agency's current Tattoo and Body Ornamentation Policy. A copy of General Order 28 - Dress and Appearance can be accessed here
