Motlow State is the fastest growing college in Tennessee. We are located in the beautiful rolling hills of middle Tennessee and have four campuses that serve students from eleven counties. Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree earned from a regionally accredited institution and two years of experience in planning, designing, implementing, and managing computer enterprise systems including but not limited to Microsoft, Cisco, Oracle, and VMWare. Additional experience may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis up to two years.

Bachelor's degree earned from a regionally accredited institution and two years of experience in planning, designing, implementing, and managing computer enterprise systems including but not limited to Microsoft, Cisco, Oracle, VMWare, Red Hat Linux, Aruba, and Ellucian Banner. Additional experience may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis up to two years.

General Function:
Manages and supports the Motlow systems infrastructure, as well as providing support to users prioritizing requests according to severity and impact level.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of systems administration principles and techniques to be applied to a wide array of systems
Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues in an efficient and timely manner.
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
Ability to explain complex technical concepts in simple terms when the audience requires it.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
Ability to carry at least fifty (50) pounds and safely climb and descend a ladder to install and/or uninstall data center equipment.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages, plans, designs, configures, administers, troubleshoots, and supports systems including but not limited to MS Enterprise systems, windows servers, active directory, Azure, Office 365, SQL, Red Hat Linux, Oracle DB, VMWare, Aruba OS, Cisco CUCM, Okta, SAML, SSO, Jamf, Degree works and Argos.
Plan, coordinate, and implement system projects according to best practices standards while adhering to proper security measures to protect data, applications, and hardware.
Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and uninstall data center equipment and server hardware.
Perform preventative maintenance and work closely with external technical specialists to anticipate and avoid system failures and down time
Perform scheduled and mandatory upgrades and patches of ERP (Ellucian Banner), third-party product and middle-tier software including thorough evaluation of the prerequisites.
Prepare training materials and present them to senior staff and end users to enable more effective and efficient use of institution technology resources.
Monitor servers and security logs for security breaches, system failures and to maintain database stability and health.
Develop and maintain procedures related to systems administration, systems operations, and backup/recovery routines
Provide all campuses and customers with technical assistance and information. Assist customers through walkthroughs by providing them with step-by-step instructions. Attempt to resolve customers' problems by providing them with self-fix guidance. Review, solve and document solutions for generated tickets.
