We are deeply proud of our academic community. **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. (NTU) is a diverse and dynamic learning environment, defined by a shared sense of respect for all its people. Our mission is to be bold, to do the right things and to change lives, and our academics are key to realising those goals. Their work continues to reinforce our credentials as an award-winning university, and a research centre of excellence.
Our continued success — underpinned by the number of prestigious national awards we’ve won — has hinged on two commitments: forging excellent partnerships around the world and harnessing the talents of all our people. We secured a ‘Gold’ rating in the government’s Teaching Excellence Framework; received the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for our pioneering research; and in 2018, we were the first UK university to sign the Social Mobility Pledge, further demonstrating our commitment to ensuring ‘success for all’. That’s why we’re now looking for new, passionate, ambitious people to join our community.
The Psychology Department at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. is seeking to employ a Research Associate
for an AHRC funded investigation of a place-based approach to supporting NHS Social Prescribing. You will be joining a collegiate and ambitious group of Social Identity researchers with an excellent reputation for their theoretically informed applied research.
This is an ideal opportunity for an early career researcher to join a highly motivated team, make a valuable contribution to addressing important scientific and policy issues, and develop high-level skills in conducting applied psychological research. The project uses the Social Identity Approach to examine how a place-based intervention to support NHS Social Prescribing (the use of group activities to reduce loneliness and improve health and wellbeing) works within one community setting with a view to capturing its core mechanisms and upscaling to nearby areas. The research will involve carrying out interviews, focus groups and survey research with local residents and community groups, analysis of the resultant data and writing and disseminating research outputs. The researcher will also be involved in the development of policy outputs and training materials for local community organisations.
