Sr. Admissions Officer
We are seeking a
Senior Admissions Officer
who will be responsible for the overall admissions process for the Master of Public Health (MPH) Program, which comprises approximately one-third of all graduate applications to the Bloomberg School of Public Health. Utilizes specialized knowledge of the SOPHAS (Schools of Public Health Application System) platform providing guidance and instruction to faculty members of the MPH Admissions Committee. Guides and mentors staff members of the MPH Program Office with respect to the overall admissions process. Responsible for recruiting events for prospective and admitted applicants including recruiting fairs and live chat sessions for international and online/part-time students. advises with prospective applicants, applicants and admitted students.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Admissions Processes
Manages overall daily admissions operations for the number one ranked MPH Program in the US, which attracts over 1,000 applications from across the globe.
Performs all the necessary duties required of an Admissions Officer for managing admissions of the MPH degree program the highly regarded national and international MPH degree program.
Represents the School nationally at events such as APHA and serves as departmental liaison for the dual degree programs with The School of Nursing, Carey Business School, Georgetown University Law School and Medical School, University of Maryland School of Social Work, and the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS).
Manages the operations of a team of 30 faculty who serve on the MPH Admissions Committee. Oversees the issuance and tracking of application assignments, faculty reviews, and final admissions decisions.
Responsible for implementing best practices and procedures for efficient work flow of the overall admissions process from screening to notification.
Expert knowledge of MPH admissions policies and practices.
Student Recruitment & Advising
Possesses specialized knowledge of the overall MPH admissions process and handles inquiries from many hundreds of students from across the globe who constitute about one-third of all applicants to the School
Responsible for a more complex recruitment geography because a significant proportion of the applicants are international.
Responsible for recruiting and advising both domestic and international applicants through Live Chat Sessions, APHA recruiting events, Visitor Days, JHSPH Admitted Students Days, Open House events, in-person meetings, telephone, etc.
Training
Trains faculty on the MPH Admissions Committee on the overall admissions process and how to effectively use the SOPHAS platform.
Trains and manages MPH staff on admissions procedures and screening applications during the busiest times of the admissions season
Provides guidance to academic coordinators in other departments as they begin to use the new SOPHAS platform for admissions and recruitment.
Reporting & Analysis
Collaborates with the JHSPH Admissions Office to develop, analyze and reconcile necessary admissions data reports throughout the academic year.
Prepares admissions reports for the Chair of the MPH Program, the MPH Admissions Committee, and MPH Program Office staff.
Reviews on a regular basis the efficiency of the overall MPH admissions process.
Other Duties
Serves as a member of the leadership team in organizing a range of special events including orientations, etc.
Processes scholarships and stipends for Sommer Scholars.
Disburses Welch Scholarships and other scholarships for part-time MPH students.
Serves as the primary administrator for I-9 verifications for international students.
Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
Bachelor's Degree is required.
5 years related experience in college admissions, financial aid, and/or enrollment management.
Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.*
JHU Equivalency Formula
: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for the required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree is preferred.
A strong understanding of public health degree programs is preferred.
Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of team.
Experience coordinating programs and working effectively with faculty, students, staff and alumni.
Ability to effectively communicate in person and in writing and be able to speak publicly.
Must have the ability to analyze admissions data and trends, forecast changes in enrollment/higher education and develop appropriate strategies to respond.
Should possess high energy, attention to detail, and the ability to organize effectively.
Should have strong technical skills and the ability to work with SOPHAS and the MPH Student Database in ACCESS.
Must have the ability to travel and work nights and weekends as necessary.

Starting Salary Range: $53,020 - $72,935 (commensurate with experience)
