Position Overview
Position Summary: 
The Biology Department at Eastern New Mexico University is searching for a Geneticist. This position is responsible primarily for teaching the genetics courses and labs in the Biology Department as well as bioinformatics and lower level introductory courses for majors and general education.
Requirements
Duties and Responsibilities:
  Teach 12 credit hours per semester in areas including general biology for majors and non-majors, genetics (with lab), bioinformatics, and potentially plant sciences courses.
Conduct research and perform service.
Academic advising of undergraduate students in biology.
Provide mentorship to graduate students in their research programs, and service.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Ph.D. (ABD Considered) related to the responsibilities of the position is required.  
Teaching experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Expertise in the area(s) of genetics and bioinformatics is essential.
Basic computer skills (e.g. Word-processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software)
Basic laboratory skills (safety, scientific method, solution preparation, DNA isolation, etc.)
Teaching skills (enthusiastic lecturer, ability to teach diverse learners, etc.)
Assessment skills (learning outcomes, grading, etc.)
Quantitative analysis and experimental design skills
Specialized lab skills related to the position.
Experience with teaching major and non-major students at a rural, regional, 4-year comprehensive university.
Experience mentoring undergraduate research students
Working Conditions

Work is sedentary in nature that at times requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
