Reporting to the ASPIRE Project Coordinator, the Student Success Coach helps new and transfer students develop skills, behaviors, and habits that contribute to their success as STEM majors at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***..
The Student Success Coach works with STEM students on academic and career goal setting, learning strategies, self-motivation, time management, and organizational skills. The Student Success Coach works with the Project Coordinator and Co-PDs on all planned ASPIRE project activities, including coordination of academic mentoring, supplemental instruction, and Summer Bridge programs.
The Student Success Coach attends regular meetings with the project coordinator to discuss ASPIRE project activities, to integrate project activities into existing activities, and to review and report progress toward project objectives.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Helps new and transfer students develop skills, behavior, and habits that contribute to their success as STEM majors.
Works with the Project Coordinator and appropriate WP units to assist STEM students in the program with academic and career goal setting, learning strategies, time management and organization, and self-motivation skills.
Collaborates with the Project Coordinator and WP Academic Support Service units, such as Science Enrichment Center, Mathematics Learning Center, Computer Science Tutoring Center, and the Writing Center, on implementation of project activities to meet the goals of the project.
Assists the Co-Project Director with the placement of STEM students in appropriate Supplemental Instruction (SI) sessions and maintains records of supplemental instruction attendance for the students in the program.
Works with the ASPIRE Project Coordinator and STEM Transfer Success Coordinator to provide transfer students access to academic and non-academic supports.
Assists the Project Coordinator in the selection of students to participate in the grants STEM Summer Bridge Program from among newly admitted students.
Participates in scheduling and conducting the activities of the Summer Bridge Program.
Coordinates all academic mentoring and support activities along with the Project Coordinator, and provides guidance to transfer students participating in Summer Research Bridge activities with WP STEM faculty.
Maintains essential records and files on academic mentoring and support services for the ASPIRE project.
Assists the Project Coordinator in compiling data, creating and disseminating print and/or electronic reports, newsletters and other documents on the activities of the ASPIRE project.
Participates in monthly meetings to coordinate project activities in line with timelines and budgets, to integrate project activities into existing initiatives, and review progress toward project objectives.
Performs other duties as assigned by the ASPIRE Project Coordinator that are appropriate for the position.
Qualifications:
Required qualifications:
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university.
One (1) or more years experience working with students to promote student success or navigate educational systems.
Demonstrated experience communicating complex processes and information.
Pro?ciency using online technologies and ability to learn and adapt to new tools.
Commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity and inclusion.
Additional, preferred qualifications:
Experience providing academic counseling/coaching, motivational strengths-based coaching.
Experience working as an academic advisor in higher education.
Personal attributes and traits:
Ability to prioritize work, set reasonable timelines and attain agreed-upon goals.
Able to dissect a problem into its parts and, using critical thinking and analytical and problem solving skills propose results driven solutions.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in written and oral format.
Capable of working collaboratively in a complex organization with stakeholders who may have competing needs and wants.
