Essential Job Duties:
This position is responsible for the daily care of animals used in research and teaching. Duties may include:
Performing basic animal husbandry on a wide variety of species
Record keeping
Administration of medications
Animal enrichment.
This position is classified as essential personnel and can require weekend and holiday work.
Other Work/Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate animal records
Perform basic animal husbandry on a wide variety of species
Administer routine medications
Maintain sanitation and safety procedures in accordance to regulations
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Experience/Education:
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Required Qualifications:
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and 90 pounds occasionally with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications:
1 year (combined from multiple locations) experience in animal husbandry
Wide variety of species care (especially livestock/poultry/aquatics)
AALAS certifications
Required license or certification:
A valid NC driver's license must be obtained within 60 days of start date and must be maintained throughout employment.
