Our Food Safety, Hygiene and Management Group provide courses for the advanced academic training in food safety and food control. We are seeking to appoint at a senior level a person to oversee and contribute on a sustained basis to the whole range of teaching leadership, management and administration activities of the Food Safety Group. This is an exciting time to lead the Group as we aim to grow the national and international reach of our programmes.  
The post holder will be expected, as team leader, to take responsibility for the overall running of the Food Safety Group, including the strategic development of new provision and contributing to the successful delivery of the existing programmes. The post holder will support the programme and module leaders with regard to enterprise, accreditation, review, delivery and development of the programmes. 
The MSc in Food Safety, Hygiene and Management was developed to provide post-qualification training for food, enforcement and health professionals. The first students were admitted in October 1997. The students attending the course come from a variety of backgrounds. It is popular with officials working in Control Authorities and this is its main target group. At present, the majority of students are overseas. 
The Food Safety Group has an active CPD programme which concentrates on updating Food Safety Officers who work for Local Authorities. There is also overseas provision which fluctuates according to requirement. The post holder will be expected to lead and contribute to existing programmes and develop additional provision in these areas. This should also include bespoke courses which address emerging issues in food safety. These may be delivered on campus, overseas or in local authority as part of the school’s knowledge transfer programme and engagement with partners.
CPD provision via distance learning is forming an increasing part of the provision and the post holder will be expected to liaise with relevant organisations such as Futurelearn, Overseas National Competent Authorities, the food industry and NGO’s to develop this further.

****Applicants must hold a higher Degree (minimum MSc, preferably a PhD) relevant to the discipline area and professional registration with the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB) is desirable. They will also be able to demonstrate excellence in Learning and Teaching, and Management and administration.
It is advantageous that the applicant has relevant enforcement experience in a competent authority. This may be in a Local Authority or a National Competent Authority.
Experience in the food industry and understanding of the delivery of food controls outside the UK would be an advantage.
