invites applications for
Director of the William J. Jameson Law Library
and full -time, tenured or tenure-track assistant/associate/full Professor, starting in July 2023.
The Director of the Law Library will report directly to the Dean of the School of Law and be responsible for all aspects of library operations. This will include, but not be limited to, strategic planning, the library budget, collection development, compliance with accreditation standards of the American Bar Association and the American Association of Law Libraries, service to the practicing bar and the public, and hiring and supervision of library staff.
The Director of the Law Library is a full-time, full-year faculty position eligible for tenure. Thus, the Director’s duties will include teaching, scholarship, and service as set forth in **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. Blewett School of Law Faculty Handbook. As a member of the law faculty, the Director will teach in related areas, including legal research. However, the Director’s duties will be modified to prioritize the law library.
The Director will collaborate with the Dean, faculty, staff, and students to advance the School of Law’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and engagement and make the School a more welcoming and inclusive environment.
The William J. Jameson Law Library was established in 1911. The Law Library’s facilities, collection, and services are available to students, faculty, and staff of the Alexander Blewett III School of Law at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***., and members of the bar, as well as the general public who require access to legal materials. The Law Library’s primary mission is to serve the students, faculty, and staff of the Alexander Blewett III School of Law.
The Law Library is also a member of the Federal Depository Libraries Program offering free, public access to Federal collections and information specialists to assist the American public to locate Federal information. The William J. Jameson Law Library is separate from the Maureen and Mike Mansfield Library on **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. campus, but the two libraries regularly collaborate.
We are committed to integrating theory with practice, making relevant practical experience particularly valuable in all of our faculty positions, including the Director of the Law Library. Thus, applicants must have both a J.D. and a Masters of Library Science (or their equivalents), and top candidates will bring significant experience as a law librarian.
