General Unit Profile
The ICU is an 18-bed nursing unit. The unit has a mixed acuity level of ICU patients, including Medical, Minor Surgical, and Neurological. All patient rooms are private. The nurse-patient ratio for ICU level patients is 1:2 and the nurse patient ratio.
Our Patient Population
We care for adult/geriatric patients who may have one of the following diagnoses:
Sepsis
Hemodynamic Instability
Acute and Chronic Renal Failure (ARF/CRF)
Multi-organ dysfunction syndrome
Respiratory Failure
Hypertensive Crisis
Post Cardiac Arrest
Vascular and Orthopedic Surgery
Neurological
Overview of Department Services
The Interdisciplinary care team collaborates to meet the needs of our patients. The team is comprised of physicians, nurses, residents, interns, discharge planners, social workers, rehabilitation therapists (PT and OT), respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and patient advocates. Dieticians speak to patients daily about their food preferences and meal selection. Pharmacists assist with reviewing all medications with patients upon discharge.

Summary
Under the general administrative direction of the Clinical Nurse Manager, the Assistant Nurse Manager is accountable for the delivery of patient care services which supports the strategic plan of the organization and achieves clinical and service quality objectives, in a clinical unit orc or care delivery site. This role is accountable for the quality of clinical services delivered, for the competency and performance of nursing staff, and for designing and maintaining systems to support multidisciplinary team function and continuity of services while working in coordination with Clinical Nurse Manager. The Assistant Nurse Manager also serves as a key participant in organizational project teams and workgroups at the organizational and unit level.
Principal Responsibilities and Tasks
Helps to manage and evaluate the system of care delivery and clinical services on one or more patient care units which helps to meet clinical and service quality objectives alongside the Nurse Manager.
Assumes a leadership role in managing the quality of services provided at the unit level.
Manages human fiscal resources to meet financial goals and achieve identified outcomes.
Develops and implements clinical utilization strategies which s support clinical pathways, discharge planning, and case management.

What You Need to Be Successful:
REQUIREMENTS:
Licensure
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland,
or
eligible for licensure due to Compact state agreements outlined through the Maryland Board of Nursing, is required.
BLS Certification
Education:
BSN (Bachelor's Science of Nursing) required.
Masters' degree with management coursework preferred. Incumbents are expected to matriculate in an accredited graduate program within one year of their employment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Demonstrated success in a clinical leadership role required the ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population(s) served.
Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and ability to assess data reflective of the patient's requirements relative to his or her population-specific and age-specific needs.
Demonstrated highly effective verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrates effectiveness as a group leader and/or participant. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multiple members of the health care and administrative leadership team.
Demonstrated ability to think critically, develop conceptual designs for clinical services, and plan and organize successful projects.
