Profile

The Elementary Academic Interventionist
 provides targeted academic support to small groups of  students at the elementary level in activities designed to build student achievement in essential literacy and mathematics skills. Promotes enthusiasm for growth and development. Adheres to state curriculum standards. Collects and reports on correct and detailed records of student performance. Creates and maintains a safe and respectful learning environment. Creates a relationship of mutual trust and respect with students from all backgrounds and abilities. 
The essential functions of this position include:
Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans, class activities and a variety of instructional materials that facilitate active and meaningful learning. Develop lesson plans and tests that are in accordance with established expectations.
In harmony with the parameters of the District-adopted curriculum, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, etc, and communicate these objectives and their purpose to students.
Adapt and reassess lesson plans to meet specific student needs; comply with newly implemented guidelines or rules; and update lesson plans and activities to incorporate best practices and new developments in education.
Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
Assess and record learning on an ongoing basis and adjust instruction based on the assessments.
Collaborate effectively with classroom teachers to identify and address student needs to develop and build essential literacy and mathematics skills.
The required qualifications of this position include:
Education: 
Minimum Required: Bachelors of Arts or Science Degree
Preferred: 
Certification Required: State of Vermont teaching Certification with endorsement in the assigned area.
Experience:  
Minimum Required: 
Demonstrated competence in instruction and content in the assigned area.
Proficient in computers applications – word processing, spreadsheets, email, internet.
Familiar with laws and regulations governing education in Vermont.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Working knowledge
Sufficient familiarity with the subject to know basic principles and terminology and to understand and solve simple problems.
General knowledge
Sufficient knowledge of a field to perform most work in normal situations. The work calls for comprehension of standard situations and includes knowledge of most of the significant aspects of the subject.
Thorough knowledge
Advanced knowledge of the subject matter. The work calls for sufficient comprehension of the subject area to solve unusual as well as common work problems, to be able to advise on technical matters and to serve as a resource on the subject for others in the organization.
Comprehensive knowledge
Requires complete mastery and understanding of the subject. This term should be used sparingly and only for unusually exacting or responsible positions required to originate hypotheses, concepts, or approaches.
