We are looking for talented professionals to join our team at the University of Maryland Medical Center.
General Summary
Under general supervision of the Director of Development Communications, the Assistant Director of Development Communications helps ensure the implementation of the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) Foundation's communications strategy. The Assistant Director supports the Director in compiling effective print communications that are both regularly scheduled and as requested by fellow staff, and is responsible for managing the social media accounts of the Foundation. This individual coordinates with the Development staff, Director of Annual Giving, Senior Director of Campaigns and Strategic Initiatives, and others to develop compelling written communications that advance prospect and donor engagement.
Principal Responsibilities and Tasks
Develop and implement strategic communications in multiple mediums in a timely manner. This will include, but is not limited to: social media, donor publications, e-blasts, year-end reminders, stewardship reports, gift acknowledgements, web pages, invitations, newsletters, and fundraising campaign materials.
Assists the Director of Development Communications with print communications including: proposals, stewardship letters, newsletters, and personalized communications.
Maintain and grow social media presence on sites including Facebook and Twitter. Monitor and track site traffic and make recommendations for increasing interactions and followers.
Works closely with the Development staff to coordinate communications on the use and impact of donor gifts.
Works closely with events and annual giving colleagues to brainstorm, develop, and implement various communications.

What You Need to Be Successful:
Bachelor's degree is required.
Two or more years of communications experience.
Experience working in a development office with knowledge of philanthropy communication strategies preferred.
Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communications, and the ability to deal with all levels of personnel both inside and outside the organization.
Strong analytical skills, exceptional organizational skills, and excellent attention to detail.
Ability to work independently without close oversight, but also a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels within and outside UMMS Foundation.
Passion for the mission of UMMS Foundation and the UM Medical System as a whole.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and development databases, including Raiser's Edge.
Knowledge of Luminate preferred.
