Employer Development Specialist - Career Services

Profile

Primary responsibilities include the development of employer partnerships resulting in job opportunities for students and graduates, with a special focus targeting jobs in the Arts, Humanities, Sciences and other targeted areas. Outreach and communicate with employers, expanding the employer database. Meet with employers, private industry councils, workforce development agencies, chambers of commerce, economic development boards and other professional groups. Support Career Services Advisory Council activities. Contribute to economic, major, employer, alumni, and industry research projects. Collaborate with faculty in order to uncover and connect with relevant employers and cultivate Career Services/Academic partnerships. Develop and deliver presentations and participate in networking opportunities to cultivate employment opportunities and educate students. Assist employers with utilization of MustangJOBS, on-line recruiting system, as well as use and manage other technical platforms to support student and alumni success. Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Employer Services, manage the day-to-day execution of a technology platforms including data collection, reporting, outgoing communication and supervising of the student assistant(s). Cultivate new employer participation in career fairs, career events, employer panels, on-campus recruiting, job postings and information sessions. Research economic trends and identify emerging markets. Assist employers with recruitment strategies, plans and access to students/graduates.

Career Services mission is to empower Cal Poly students to achieve a lifetime of meaningful career success. Our team is looking for an Employer Development Specialist that can cultivate deep relationships with employers and create job and internship opportunities for students.
Key Qualifications
Thorough knowledge of outreach, recruitment, employer development, networking, public affairs, marketing and/or media relations.
Working knowledge of and ability to apply standard theories, practices, principles and techniques related to communications in public affairs, marketing and/or media relations.
Demonstrated ability to keep abreast of campus events and subject matter expertise in relation to current events to identify and capitalize on media opportunities that will promote the Career Center and University.
Ability to build and manage sophisticated employer/alumni contacts and networks.
Working knowledge of marketing and research techniques and methods. Ability to apply market research to identify communication needs and target industry audiences.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree and three years of progressively responsible experience in marketing and public relations or a related field. A business, marketing, or sales background is preferred with knowledge of the federal, state, and local labor market trends.
Salary and Benefits
Anticipated Hiring Range: $50,000 - $55,000 per year

Classification Range: $42,180 - $76,296 per year
