The University of Bolton, Manchester (UOBM) is a new and exciting higher education provider situated in the heart of Manchester. It delivers undergraduate and postgraduate courses using intensive and innovative teaching methodologies to a diverse body of students.
We are looking for individuals who are well presented, highly organised, and with exceptional interpersonal skills to work in our Professional Services team. The Professional Services team manage a range of administrative functions. The iCentre is the communications hub of our organisation, and staff are responsible for a range of activities, including fielding inquiries from a range of stakeholders, and signposting students to relevant services. Our iCentre staff also assist with a range of administrative duties including, but not limited to, support for our internal events, maintaining records and management of data.
iCentre staff will be required to manage a wide spectrum of information across various digital platforms. Therefore, candidates will have a high standard of English literacy and computer literacy, and will be adept at the use of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Onedrive, and Sharepoint.
Professional Services staff are also trained in the other major departmental functions such as Learning Resources, Registry, Admissions, Events, and Director of Studies. In due course, staff with a particular aptitude can specialise in these areas. As we are a growing organisation, there will be opportunity for progression for those with the qualifications, skills, diligence, and motivation to do so.
Duties require daily physical attendance at our building at Manchester Science Park.
During trimester, the operational tempo is high, so a calm, organised manner is essential, and being able to empathise with students who may be struggling with a range of anxieties is a key competency.
Successful candidates will have a relevant first degree or good quality A Levels or equivalent. Previous experience of similar work would be advantageous, but is not essential as staff will receive detailed induction and training.
