We seek a Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader in Fashion Design to contribute to teaching and student experience across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
We are looking for a highly experienced creative pattern cutter-designer with extensive experience working within the luxury sector creating original designs using a holistic design-based skillset. You will be a practitioner whose teaching practice is informed by either your industry experience/your expanding body of published research or practice-based research outputs that focus on innovative creative cut techniques that support for example sustainable design practice.
All Senior Lecturers are required to contribute to education, academic citizenship, leadership, and knowledge exchange.
The post holder will also be expected to contribute to the research and/or knowledge exchange activities of the department for example by producing high quality research outputs and developing funding bids OR demonstrate an interest in developing expertise and innovation in the delivery of teaching and/or student experience. 
About you:
The successful applicant will be:
A highly experienced creative pattern cutter-designer with extensive experience working within the luxury sector creating original designs using a holistic design-based skillset
A practitioner whose teaching practice is informed by either industry experience/or an expanding body of published research or practice-based research outputs that focus on innovative creative cut techniques that support for example sustainable design practice.  This experience will be used to support innovation, programme leadership, and mentorship within the discipline and to support students to be represented globally at high profile competitions
An in depth understanding of the subject of fashion design and creative pattern cutting including recent developments in innovative creative cut techniques that support for example sustainable design practice.
Commitment to the University's strategic objectives, with a focus on supporting the student experience and providing leadership in key department roles
Commitment to the University's policies and procedures including promoting equality in own area of responsibility and in general conduct.
Essential Skills:
A good first degree together with a PhD in a relevant discipline or equivalent qualifications.
A highly experienced creative Pattern Cutter/Designer with extensive experience working within the luxury sector creating original designs using a holistic design-based skillset
An in depth understanding of the subject of fashion design and creative pattern cutting including recent developments in innovative creative cut techniques that support for example sustainable design practice.
A practitioner whose teaching practice is informed by either industry experience/or an expanding body of published research or practice-based research outputs that focus on innovative creative cut techniques that support for example sustainable design practice. 
Experience and vision to programme lead a large fashion programme
In some circumstances, we will consider applicants who do not have these qualifications but are committed to obtaining them and have equivalent significant attainment in their professional field.
Desirable:
A PGCE, Certificate of Education, PGCLTHE or membership of the Higher Education Academy (or commitment to obtain within three years of appointment).
Membership of relevant Professional bodies, demonstrating professional standing.
Successfully publish results of research to the REF, in peer reviewed journals or monographs, or publish/exhibit professional practice
