The AAMC seeks a Program Specialist to support the Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships unit within the Transforming Medical Education portfolio.This unit supports medicine and health professions in adapting its educational curricula, ensuring that physicians are prepared to practice and lead in a progressive health care environment. The unit identifies these needs and realizes opportunities for collaborative partnerships as we lead and support initiatives across the continuum of medical education, across specialties within medicine, and across health care professions to advance medical education. This unit leads time-limited initiatives and curricular innovations and engages deeply with our AAMC colleagues across the association as well as with other medical education associations.
This person will work closely with the Director of Strategic Initiatives and other colleagues on several areas of focus including but not limited to: Advancement of Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME), Advancement of Interprofessional and Collaborative Education, Medical Education's Active Response to the Opioid Epidemic, The Fundamental Role of Arts and Humanities in Medical Education, AAMC-CDC Cooperative Agreement on Building Vaccine Confidence, and AAMC's Action Plan 1 to Strengthen Medical Education.
How will you make an impact?
Participate in the development, planning, and tracking of new initiatives
Serve as point of contact for daily operational logistics including but not limited to Monday.com, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Verint, and Cadmium CD.
Assist with logistical planning of internal and external meetings within the unit, including preparing meeting and conference call materials and drafting minutes
Support research-related activities including supporting literature reviews and working with the Reference Center to acquire research articles, reports and other scholarly materials, and drafting research related communications
Assist with the creation of project materials and update of data presentations, including PowerPoint presentations
Support the ongoing development and implementation of strategic new projects in Medical Education
Connect with constituent and staff participants on logistical and planning matters
Continuously develop expertise relevant to medical education and the AAMC, taking advantage opportunities to better support the mission of the AAMC
What will you bring to the role?
Bachelor's degree required, with 3 - 5 years of professional experience; ability to work with data required; experience working with others and experience independently managing projects required; experience in healthcare or medical education strongly preferred
Excellent interpersonal skills; excellent writing and communication skills; ability to prioritize projects independently
Willingness and the ability to learn new software programs as necessary; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to think critically; strong attention to detail; ability to work collaboratively and collegially; and the ability to engage with stakeholders in a professional manner;
The ability to adapt to changing priorities of AAMC, shifting priorities efficiently.
If a bachelor's degree is required, related work experience may be substituted in some positions. One year of college course work at an accredited institution is equivalent to one year of related work experience.
This person can be anywhere in the US, but there are core business hours.
