JOB DESCRIPTION: The Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at the Rollins School of Public Health of Emory Universityinvites applications for an open-rankresearch-track Facultypositionin spatial analysis.We seek amotivated and dynamic individualtoteach, mentorgraduate students and conduct research inspatial analysis,geographic information systems,mapping software,and biostatisticsmethods.The ideal candidate willhavestrong interestsinusing a variety of instructional delivery methods and innovative approaches to enhance public health education. This position will also involveinterdisciplinary research within thedepartment, RSPH, Emory and other partners such as the CDCon projects that involve spatial data technologies (e.g.,GPS,remote sensingapplications,mental health) in the areas of environmental health, infectious diseasesandspatialepidemiology.We encourageapplicationsfrom diverse disciplines (e.g.,geography, environmental sciences,epidemiology,computer science,health services) to apply.
About Emory Biostatistics and Bioinformatics: The department includes 32 primary faculty members currently supported by a wide range of external funding. Faculty engage in diverse methodological research areas with specific motivation from an equally broad array of public health focus areas, including Alzheimers disease, infectious diseases, cancer, cardiovascular and renal disease, epidemiological surveillance, and environmental and mental health. The department participates in the Georgia Clinical and Translational Science Alliance, serves as the Data Coordinating Center for several NIH clinical trials, and operates the Biostatistics Collaborative Core. The department offers a doctoral graduate program in Biostatistics and masters degree programs in Biostatistics. Collaborative opportunities exist within the Rollins School of Public Health and throughout Emorys Woodruff Health Sciences Center including the School of Medicine, the Alzheimers Disease Research Center, the Winship Cancer Institute, Yerkes Primate Center, the Vaccine Center, the Center for AIDS Research, and with nearby partner institutions the VA Medical Center and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Doctoral degree in Biostatistics or a related quantitative field; strong record or potential for graduate level teaching and mentoring; intent and ability for scientific collaborative research; excellent oral and written communication skills.
