Job Description:
The David Crawford School of Engineering of **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. invites applications for a one-year appointment to the Donald M. Wallace Visiting Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering beginning in July 2023 and ending in May 2024. The visiting position is funded by a gift from the estate of Donald M. Wallace, a Mechanical Engineering Professor at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. for fifty-five years.
Responsibilities include teaching the theory and practice of mechanical engineering to undergraduate students and working with colleagues in the school. The successful applicant will be expected to teach both lecture and laboratory-based undergraduate courses in the Mechanical Engineering program with a preference for being able to teach in both the solid mechanics and thermal/fluids areas.
Requirements:
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related field), or M.S. with extensive teaching or industry experience.
Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate engineering courses.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to teach courses in at least two of the following subject areas: Solid mechanics and manufacturing (e.g., statics and dynamics, mechanics of materials, manufacturing laboratory, and machine design), thermal/fluids (e.g., thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and thermal/fluid laboratory), and computer applications (e.g., computer aided design using SolidWorks and engineering programming using MATLAB).
Hands on experience in a laboratory environment.
Relevant industrial and practical experience.
