Coordinated School Health Team Manager
Summary of Position Responsibilities
The Coordinated School Health Team Manager will facilitate the activities of the Coordinated School Health Team (CSHT). The CSHT will work with the Vermont Department of Health to assess current wellness practices with respect to the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC) model, including reviewing and suggesting revisions to the current policies and procedures on wellness, substance abuse, and health education. The work of the CSHT will be implemented by three workgroups: Health Education, Substance Use and Wellness Policy, each of which will meet monthly during the school year. Lastly, the CSHT will implement staff trainings about substance misuse during the school year.
Qualifications:
Experience with group facilitation and processing
Demonstrated transparent and high integrity leadership
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Experience with assessing policy and curriculum and recommending changes
Experience with public health approaches to wellness
Essential Duties
Coordinate CSHT and workgroup meetings: update team members regularly with relevant information, provide point of contact, schedule and facilitate meetings, track attendance, manage stipends.
Connect CSHT members with information resources needed for CSHT activities
Facilitate review of BSD protocol for problem identification and referral for substance use, in consultation with our partners, such as BPHC, and local treatment providers.
Distribute the substance use procedures and arrange training to BSD staff through SAP Counselors, School Counselors, and/or outside providers.
Prepare/update MOU/MOA with treatment provider partners.
Integrate Substance Use Prevention into the Coordinated School Health Initiatives
Facilitate CSHT review of data (YRBS, School Health Index, etc.) to inform its work, and arrange training for staff, faculty, and students on any changes to the procedures that result.
Work with the Substance Use Workgroup to assess staff training needs regarding alcohol, cannabis, tobacco, and other drugs, and develop next steps for ongoing training.
Coordinate the assessment of the impact of CSHT activities, including gathering and analyzing data, sharing results, and making recommendations.
Build buy-in for this work and the CSHT recommendations across BSD departments and locations
Draft final reports and presentations.
Work Environment
This work will take place primarily at meetings in BSD buildings, but will also require some work from home or other remote location. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.
Terms of Employment
The position may be either:
A new, part-time, hourly, BSD employee OR
A current BSD employee who will receive a stipend for work performed outside of their current contract.
Hours
: average of up to 17 hours per week during the school year
