Job Description:
About the Office of the Provost:
The Provost oversees most University areas that touch the student experience. This includes academic programs, student life, residence life, career services, athletics, university ministries, student support services, and study abroad programs. The Office of the Provost also oversees the Faculty Life Office (FLO), which provides support for faculty development in the areas of teaching, scholarship, and service. The Office of the Provost shares the Executive Suite with the Office of the President.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Academic Events Coordinator oversees the operations of the Faculty Life Office, working collaboratively with the Assistant Provost for Faculty Development. The Academic Events Coordinator reports to the Executive Assistant to the Provost and provides high-level support, particularly related to events planning, for both the Offices of the Provost and President.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in handling a broad range of activities and will be able to work independently, proactively, and collaboratively. They must be well organized and flexible and enjoy the administrative challenges of supporting multiple constituencies. They will be comfortable working to deadlines and remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and professional. Excellent communication skills, a commitment to providing excellent service and building positive working relationships, and attention to details are equally important.
Requirements:
Strong personal commitment to the University's Statement of Faith and Christian mission.
Three years of administrative support and/or project management experience, preferably in a higher education setting.
Experience with event planning and/or service preferred.
Ability to take direction but then work and problem solve independently, juggling multiple priorities with poise and accuracy.
Strong interpersonal skills; Ability to work in a team setting, including working collaboratively with office staff and other academic staff across the university.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail, evidenced in all submitted application materials.
Willingness to work some flexible hours during peak periods and special events, e.g., Commencement activities in June, Faculty Retreat in September.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel required. Experience with Outlook, SharePoint, OneNote, and Adobe Acrobat preferred.

Position will remain open until filled.
Salary: $52,760 - $56,000
This is a full time position with excellent benefits. SPU pays the employee premium for medical, dental, and vision insurance. SPU makes contributions to an employee HSA account and to a retirement account after one year of eligibility in the plan.
