Job Description:
HCC is hiring for a Part Time English Institute (EI) International Enrollment Manager who serves as a Designated School Official (DSO) for the English Institute (EI), qualified to issue immigration documents to prospective and current international (F1) students and to utilize the federal Student and Exchange Visitor System (SEVIS). This position reports to campus in Columbia, MD.
Work Performed
Provides admissions counseling to prospective EI students, including a review of application materials and clarification of appropriate documentation.
Acts as the EI's primary contact with the Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) and remains informed on updates in government regulations and procedures pertaining to international students.
Works closely with the Associate Director of Admissions, International to develop and implement revised, new, or additional policies and procedures to ensure college compliance with all federal and Maryland State laws, regulations, and requirements related to the admission and enrollment of international (F1) students and other international citizens in EI programs and coursework.
Manages all tasks within Student Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) including mandatory SEVIS registration at beginning of terms.
Issues all appropriate federal documents.
Provides counseling and academic advising to EI students from the start of the application process through completion of the program.
Supports all other aspects of the admission of international citizens (particularly F1 student admissions) to the EI program including: a) responding to all forms of initial inquiries; b) establishing international student records; c) creating and maintaining databases; d) reviewing immigration documentation and determining appropriate payment rate for non-US Citizen applications; e) overseeing digital imaging processes for F1 and other international documents, and f) auditing international student enrollment, address and learning program changes.
Assists with EI marketing and advertising efforts.
Assists with EI activities including new student orientation, International Education Week and other planned activities.
This position is critical to the college's implementation of and compliance with all federal and state regulations related to the enrollment of international citizens and has many responsibilities that could deal with issues leading to liability for the college related to federal law and homeland security as well as issues that can create liability for prospective and current international citizens.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in education, social science, counseling, foreign language, or other related field or equivalent experience.
International student admissions and/or counseling experience; demonstrated organizational skills and excellent interpersonal and communication skills; attention to detail and ability to understand and interpret federal regulations; proficiency in a language in addition to English strongly preferred.
Must be a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident.
Authorization to use SEVIS and serve as a Designated School Official (DSO). U.S. citizenship or Lawful Permanent Residency status required.
Detailed knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations (including appropriate knowledge of the Code of Federal Regulations) and college policies and procedures regarding the enrollment of international citizens, particularly those seeking student (F-1) visas.
Knowledge of and authorization to use SEVIS, as well as student system screens related to SEVIS.
Extensive knowledge of college policies, procedures and services.
Detailed knowledge of the online student system.
Knowledge of federal and state privacy laws and college policies for compliance.
Excellent proficiency required with MS Office; student information systems, customer relations management system (CRM), student self-service module (examples: Ellucian Colleague, and Recruit); digital imaging technology; Windows, Outlook and e-mail; the college phone and voicemail systems; the Internet, web and portal applications, especially CMS; websites pertaining to international student admissions and other online systems, including ARTSYS and CollegeSource.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Ability to perform all duties while considering the impact of any actions on the college's sustainability initiatives in the areas of environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic prosperity.
Regular on-campus attendance is a requirement of this job.

This position reports to campus for all work performed. Our campus is located in Columbia, MD.
HCC is interested in all qualified applicants who are eligible to work in the United States. However, HCC will generally not sponsor applicants for work visas.
