We are seeking a Research Associate who will be responsible for the development of a data analytics framework for intelligent building performance modelling. The framework is expected to combine diverse input including data from smart monitoring data streams, and provide insights with respect to energy efficiency, and occupants’ performance. The project will focus on School buildings, and will involve the collection of smart sensing data from operational buildings. This is an exciting opportunity to work in an innovative project in the construction industry, with the benefit of access to academic research, supervision, support and advice.
The Associate will be based in Baxall Construction Ltd’s premises in Paddock Wood and will work closely with the support and guidance of Dr. Christos Efstratiou, Dr. Fernando Otero from the School of Computing, and Prof. Marialena Nikolopoulou from the School of Architecture and Planning, at the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.. At the end of the fixed term contract, and upon successful completion of the project, there is a possibility that the role could become a permanent full-time position.
As a Research Associate you will
Explore the application of data analytics techniques in building design, construction and building and occupant performance datasets.
Process, clean and verifying the integrity of data coming from different sources.
Design and implement unsupervised and supervised data analysis methods.
Lead the deployment of building-monitoring sensing technologies and managing the collection and processing of monitoring data.
Perform rigorous evaluation of different Machine Learning techniques applied to building performance datasets.
Write scientific papers associated with the work for publication in peer reviewed scientific journals.
Train Baxall Construction’s team members and appropriate stakeholders on the new systems and models developed during the project.
To succeed in this role you will have:
Background in an area relevant to Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence or closely related disciplines.
Excellent understanding of machine learning techniques, such as decision trees, K-means, random forests
Advanced, up-to-date knowledge of Computer Science and its applications
