Job Description Summary:

ORI
) promotes research integrity and responsible conduct of research throughout the University. The office is responsible for policy development, informational sessions, development of educational modules and other methods of communication that assist GW investigators in understanding their ethical and fiduciary responsibilities with respect to their research activities.
ORI
oversees the operations of the Office of Laboratory Safety, Office of Human Research, Animal Research Facilities, and the review of financial conflicts of interest, data use and sharing, and export controls.
The Office of Research Integrity is looking for a Research Compliance Specialist. This role ensures compliance with required regulations and laws related to research compliance for conflicts of interest, undue foreign interference, and other compliance regulatory mandates. This role offers a hybrid work option.
Additional duties include:
-Provides detailed and thorough review of contracts and agreements
-Develops and delivers education and training programs for research compliance to include financial compliance issues, conflict of interest, and responsible conduct of research
-Oversees compliance programs
-Reviews new federal compliance regulations to determine the impact on the institution and applicable faculty, staff, or students
-Troubleshoots compliance-related issues in post-award management
-Collaborates with PI and post-award, including sponsored projects closeout
-Creates effective training programs and approaches for diverse audiences, documentation, templates, and manuals on research compliance as required and/or appropriate to sponsored research at the University
-Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 7 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 5 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:
-Master's degree in regulatory research or law degree preferred
-Two to three years of directly related professional experience in research compliance within higher education, nonprofit, or academic settings
-Compliance certifications
-Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to analyze, summarize and effectively present data
