Job Goal:
The Health teacher is responsible for providing high-quality health/wellness
instruction for students in grades K– 8. Position requires teaching at three-six school sites
according to the schedule provided by K – 12 Health and Physical Education Supervisor and
School Principals.
Qualifications:
Appropriate DESE Licensure - Health and Family/Consumer science.
Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s degree preferred
Previous experience teaching health
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to work within teams across
departments and/or schools
Second language preferred
Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality and engaging lessons, including cooperative, project-based learning,
inquiry-based lessons, practice and application, and citizenship opportunities
Effective planning of lessons, units, and assessments
Demonstrates working knowledge, implementation, and evaluation of Health curriculum,
including sexual health, substance abuse, and violence prevention
Frames units and lessons around essential questions and student-learning objectives
Establishes and maintains effective classroom management system that creates a safe
learning environment
Reviews current events and information in the Health field and communicates to students
Promotes and enforces high expectations and standards for students and achievement
Promotes equity and appreciation of diversity and ensures equitable opportunities for
student learning and participation
Demonstrates appreciation and understanding of sensitivity to diversity
Communicates effectively with administration, staff, parents, and community members
Collaborates with School Leadership, Counselor Educators and grade-level Teachers to
coordinate instructio
Adheres to all state and local guidelines
Performs other duties or responsibilities assigned by the principal and/or Supervisor
