Reporting to the Vice President for Student Development, the Director of Career Development provides strategic leadership for a team of professional, administrative, and student staff responsible for developing, implementing and assessing career-focused systems, services and events that prepare the diverse WP student body and alumni for graduate school and employment, in the process of assisting them in achieving their career goals.
The Director provides vision and direction for the department, division, and University related to strategic planning, best practices, and assessment of student career outcomes. The Director analyzes issues and communicates decisions informed by state and national workforce development trends and best practices within the career development field.
The Director works collaboratively with stakeholders across the university to insure common understanding of priorities and shared purpose around student success and goal achievement. Career development for students and post-graduation success measured by graduate school admission and job placement are University priorities and an area of accomplishment for the Center on which the selected director can build.

The Career Development Center at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. is the first stop to career success for students and alumni. Guidance and programs are informed by college student development theory, industry standards and best practices in career development and job placement.
The Center collaborates with partners and stakeholders throughout the University, as well as with alumni and business partners and uses a justice, equity, and diversity and inclusion framework for program development, staff development, planning and assessment.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Develops and implements inclusive and equity-minded programs, policies, practices, procedures and systems that insure the efficient operation and achievement of intended outcomes of the Career Development Center and the Pesce Family Mentoring Institute.
Supervises, hires, trains, mentors, develops, evaluates and disciplines professional and administrative staff.
Develops short and long range operating plans, including budgets, programs and services, personnel, technology/other equipment, and space, and monitors use and impact.
Serves as an expert and resource in state and national workforce development trends and best practices and insures that programs, policies and procedures are informed by current, evidence-based career development theory and methodology.
Establishes and maintains data-informed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and goals that align with University and Division priorities and plans and that lead to measureable and positive outcomes for students. Conducts regular assessment to track achievement of goals and to inform continuous improvement.
Plans, coordinates, and conducts university events that prepare students for employment and provide employment opportunities, including jobs fairs, networking events, on-campus recruiting programs, and employer information sessions.
Works closely with College deans, faculty partners and internship coordinators to insure an integrated approach to connecting students with internships and other experiential learning opportunities, graduate school, and job placement.
Works closely with Academic Advisement colleagues, and other first-year and undeclared student influencers, to insure students have early exposure to the four-year career development plan and make meaningful connections with their career advisor.
Develops strong, ongoing relationships with area employers, business partners and alumni who may advise, mentor, and/or hire WP graduates.
Stewards the Pesce Family Mentoring Institute and utilization of resources and prepares annual report.
Reviews and updates as needed all career services publications and postings, including website, policies and procedures, and informational materials. Insures active presence on relevant social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
Serves on the SD directors group and represents the department and university at conferences and events.
Participates in major campus-wide and division events, including open houses, accepted student days, new student orientations, student welcome events, new student move-in, and commencement ceremonies.
Performs other duties as assigned that are appropriate for the position.
Hybrid remote/on campus work schedule available.
Qualifications:
Required qualifications:
Masters degree in Counseling, Student Affairs, Psychology, Career Counseling, or Business Administration.
Seven (7) or more years of relevant experience, which includes at least two (2) years supervising professionals and familiarity with performance management and professional development strategies.
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and career management software, such as handshake.
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as necessary or required.
Additional, preferred qualifications:
Experience in an academic setting.
Personal attributes and traits:
Able to communicate effectively in both written and oral format.
Demonstrated commitment to best practices within an equity and diversity framework.
Capable of listening objectively, understanding and accurately interpreting what others are saying.
Ability to collaborate in a complex environment with diverse groups with competing wants and needs.
