The Department of Education at the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. is seeking to appoint an Associate Lecturer (Teaching & Scholarship) in Inequalities in Education to cover maternity leave from 1st September 2023 - 31st October 2024.
Role
The post of Associate Lecturer (Teaching & Scholarship) in Inequalities in Education is suitable for an experienced tutor in education, or a related discipline who has established a track record of high-quality teaching and who is committed to excellence in teaching and supervision. The successful applicant will play a full part in teaching, assessment, supervision and administration within the Department. The main focus of the role will be to teach the Department's diverse cohorts of undergraduate and postgraduate students on a range of modules and to provide pastoral and dissertation supervision for undergraduate and postgraduate students. The successful candidate will join a collegial and supportive group of staff in the Centre for Research on Education and Social Justice (CRESJ).
Skills, Experience & Qualification needed
Candidates must have a PhD in Education, Social Sciences or a related discipline or equivalent experience. Candidates must have specialist knowledge in structural race inequalities and gender inequalities in education in the UK and globally. Specialist topics might include Critical Race Theory, colonialism, decoloniality, and achievement, subject choice, and sexual violence in education.
Experience in teaching and learning in HE at undergraduate level or in an evidenced similar context is essential, as is the ability to supervise research at undergraduate and/ or postgraduate level. We are particularly interested in applicants who are familiar with the history of racism and gender inequality as it pertains to social and cultural life in the United Kingdom, but who are also knowledgeable and have engaged with global and transnational approaches.
This is a full-time or part-time (0.4 FTE) appointment available from 1 September 2023 on a fixed-term basis until 31 October 2024.
