This full time post is available immediately on a fixed term basis for up to four years.

The Centre brings together researchers from the fields of medicine and living systems, and the biological, chemical, physical & mathematical sciences. Its mission is to facilitate pioneering cross-disciplinary research to substantially advance our understanding of life-threatening fungal infections. These advances will impact patient lives through improved prevention, diagnosis and treatments.
The post
The College is seeking to appoint an exceptional Early Career researcher who will be awarded an independent four-year Fellowship within the MRC CMM at the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.. This Fellowship is aimed at attracting exceptional individuals to develop an early independent research career in medical mycology. The Fellowship covers salary and comes with a generous consumable budget (up to £20k per annum). This post will focus specifically on Bioinformatics. We are looking for an individual with an interest in exploiting ‘ omics’
approaches to address the host or the host-pathogen interface, complementing the research of Dr. Rhys Farrer’s team ( ****The successful applicants will be expected to develop their own independent research programme, effectively becoming an independent principal investigator (PI) with support from our MRC CMM Directors and other Centre PIs ( ****). They will write up their own work for publication; identify sources of research funding; present their work at conferences; and contribute to the activities of the Centre (e.g. research, outreach and teaching). Their primary role will be to execute their own project successfully & publish the resultant outputs, with the ultimate aim of applying for a subsequent personal independent fellowship.
About you
The successful applicant will be able to develop research objectives, projects and proposals; identify sources of research funding and contribute to the process of securing funds and make presentations at conferences and other events.
Applicants must have recently completed their PhD (with up to 5 years post-doctoral experience). They will have a proven ability to work independently on a cutting-edge, cross-disciplinary scientific research project, whilst collaborating effectively to help other members of a team, with sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline.
