Job Description
Special Educator - (1.0 FTE) The **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***., a prek-8 district, is seeking a skilled, experienced and dynamic special education teacher to work as a Special Educator at Josiah Haynes Elementary School AND at Peter Noyes Elementary School. The special education teacher will work in a model of service delivery offering academic and behavioral support, co-teaching and inclusionary practices in general education classrooms combined with pull out instruction for small groups and individuals. Key Duties & Responsibilities: • Plan for the effective instruction and intervention for students on IEPs; • Administer formal diagnostic assessment and tests for students initially referred and for three-year re-evaluations of caseload students; • Administer ongoing progress monitoring, strategic monitoring and benchmark systems; • Schedule, prepare for, and attend Team meetings for newly referred and caseload students; • Write comprehensive progress reports; • Collaborate with general education staff with respect to appropriate accommodations and modifications; • Provide ongoing positive communication with parents; • Collect and analyze student data against IEP goals; • Other related duties as assigned. Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred; Experience with K-2 preferred;
Must have a Massachusetts licensure in Moderate Special Needs 1-6 through the Department of Elementary & Secondary Education;
Must possess demonstrated ability to develop positive behavior intervention plans;
Experience and training in reading programs such as Wilson a plus;
Wilson or Orton Gillingham certification preferred
Experience with early literacy skills and executive functioning supports a plus;
Experience with the administration and interpretation of a wide range of formal and informal diagnostic assessment and evaluation tools;
Experience with technology and the ability to incorporate in lessons.
Understanding of inclusionary techniques.
Excellent writing and communication skills required.
