Scope of Work
The Mental Health/
Social Emotional Learning (
SEL) Specialist provides direction and coordination for the effective implementation of the district’s social-emotional learning initiative by which students and adults develop fundamental emotional and social competencies and experiences.
Essential Duties and Functions
The Specialist will develop, adapt, and support the secondary SEL programs within the schools and provide leadership for work to build and deepen a positive school climate and culture by training teachers and leadership teams in high-leverage classroom practices to support mental health and well-being. This includes professional learning focused on the understanding of the five core competencies: Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, and Responsible Decision making.
The Specialist will be responsible for systemic implementation of the SEL program including standards, staff development, curriculum, and assessment working collaboratively with school counselors, psychologists, and other district/building level staff.
