The School was founded in 1883 by Francis Bellows Allen and is located on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. An Allen-Stevenson education helps to foster a boy's natural intellectual curiosity about the world, about himself, and about the various communities of which he is part. We are seeking an experienced elementary school teacher with a background in mathematics to serve as a Math Specialist beginning August 24, 2022.  The ideal candidate should have a minimum of five years of teaching experience in a related position and a master’s degree or higher in a relevant field (Mathematics, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Sciences, Engineering, etc.). This full-time position is eligible for a complete benefits package. The successful candidate will possess skills and experience that would include the ability to: Work closely with homeroom teachers to differentiate instruction in math. Teach math groups of varying levels. Provide direct small group instruction in Grades K-4. Teach a wide variety of mathematics topics, ranging from general Grade One math skills through Grade Four.          Create materials and activities to support homeroom teachers in the development of each Context for Learning Mathematics unit.             Develop assessments to help us differentiate and track student progress. Provide feedback regarding student logic/work that enhances student understanding of mathematics. Work alongside the Assistant Head of Lower School for Curriculum and Teaching to develop, document and teach each math unit in Grades K-4. Work with the Math Department Chair in the Upper Division to review the scope and sequence of the current math curriculum K-8. Promote and enhance mathematics instruction and student learning and support classroom teachers in researching and developing more effective mathematics teaching practices and materials that allow all students to reach their individual potential, including, sharing research addressing how students learn mathematics.
