Job Description

(ODU) invites nominations and applications for full time, ten-month tenure track positions within the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, School of Rehabilitation Sciences in the College of Health Sciences (****appointment effective July 25, 2022. The Doctor of Physical Therapy Program is situated in the School of Rehabilitation Sciences, College of Health Sciences and graduates approximately 40 students per year. The program employs 8 full-time core faculty and is additionally supported by faculty from within the School of Rehabilitation Sciences. Physical Therapy faculty also contribute to advising, instruction, and research in the School's PhD program in Kinesiology and Rehabilitation and in the College's PhD Program in Health Sciences Research. We are committed to maintaining a diverse and stable faculty.
The responsibilities of these positions include teaching and scholarship responsibilities in content areas that match the applicant's scholarly interests, areas of contemporary practice expertise, as well as program and school mission, goals and curricular needs. The individuals will also contribute to mentoring doctoral students within the Kinesiology and Rehabilitation and/or the Health Services Research programs. Additional responsibilities include advising and mentoring students, engaging in Program, School, College and University service, and professional development.

Minimum Qualifications - knowledge, skills, and abilities Demonstrated excellence in teaching
Effective communication skills
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues
Evidence of a research agenda
Minimum Qualifications - Education or training Graduate of an American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) CAPTE accredited physical therapy program
Earned PhD or equivalent academic degree from an accredited institution. Individuals with ABD will be considered
Minimum Qualifications - Special licenses, registration or certification
Currently licensed physical therapist or eligible for PT licensure with the stipulation that they become licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia within 1 year from the start of the contract date
Preferred Qualifications Record of funded research
Research publications in high quality peer-reviewed journals
APTA membership
Experience teaching entry-level clinical skills and problem solving
Mentorship of graduate student research
