Qualifications/Responsibilities:
The university's regular-title series typically carries a two-course per semester teaching load and emphasizes excellence in teaching, research, and publication credentials commensurate with departments at high research-intensive universities. A record of, or potential for, extramural funding is desirable. A Ph.D. or terminal degree in a related field is required by the start date.
A successful candidate will display excellence in the study of Public Relations (PR) or the broader field of integrated strategic communication and demonstrate expertise in areas such as PR theory and PR practice. Applications are encouraged from candidates whose expertise, teaching and/or research program are focused on the areas of PR and sports communication/promotion.
This candidate also must possess suitable qualifications to teach graduate-level seminars and online courses in integrated strategic communication as well as teach undergraduate courses on one or more of the following areas: strategic PR, case studies in PR, specialized PR writing, sports PR, digital media strategies/analytics. Special consideration will be given to qualified applicants prepared to actively engage in our efforts for new curriculum development in sports promotion.
As part of regular duties, the new faculty member would serve as an academic advisor to undergraduate and graduate students and would participate in the department's and graduate program's governance and service. Regular-title ISC faculty are encouraged to propose and teach special-topics undergraduate and graduate courses that take advantage of personal interests, research areas, and experiences in the field.

Our department with 12 faculty members and more than 500 students has been a historic and national leader in offering an integrated and strategic approach to advertising, promotion, public relations, direct response, and interactive or socially mediated communications.
About the College:
The College of Communication and Information is composed of two schools (The School of Journalism and Media, School of Information Science), two departments (Department of Communication, Department of Integrated Strategic Communication) and an interdisciplinary graduate program. Nearly 1,700 undergraduate majors and more than 400 graduate students are led by more than 80 full-time faculty members, who also teach in the university's core curriculum and serve students pursuing minors and certificates in the College. The College also houses UK's independent student newspaper, The Kentucky Kernel, and the defending national championship Intercollegiate Debate Team.
