Applications are invited for an academic post of Assistant Professor in Electrical Drives and Aerospace Engineering at the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. within the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. We are seeking exceptional candidates who are committed to teaching and to delivering an exceptional student experience within this leading Department and who also aspire to be internationally excellent in research. Candidates should be able to clearly demonstrate extensive knowledge of Electrical Drives in modern transport systems with a strong focus on aerospace electrical systems. This should include an in-depth know-how of technologies for power generation and propulsion in hybrid and electric aerospace systems.
Candidates should have a PhD in Electrical & Electronic or Aerospace Engineering or a closely related subject and have postdoctoral research experience.
The successful candidate will contribute to the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering within the Aerospace programmes, which are run jointly with the Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering Department. The successful candidate will be expected to deliver/revise existing modules and contribute strongly to the subsequent innovation of curriculum content in the Electrification of Aerospace. Other teaching assignments will include tutorials, and the supervision of group/individual project work.
For reference, the existing modules, content, and their level may be found at ****It is anticipated that the successful candidate will undertake their research in the Power Electronics, Machines and Control (PEMC) Group and would be expected to either apply for, or strongly support colleagues applying for, external funding to enable development of new and original research. PEMC is a World-class research Group with a strong reputation in aerospace electrical systems and in the electrification of transport. It has recently benefitted from a £52M investment in the development of a new research centre with outstanding experimental facilities.
